俄亥俄州立大学系统工程系助理教授于弦课题组招收博士,入学时间为2024 年春季/秋季。课题组专注于解决不确定性优化问题及其在供应链和智能交通中的应用。课题组现面向多学科背景招生(应用数学,统计学,工业工程,计算机等),并侧重于对优化和强化学习感兴趣的同学。

于弦,俄亥俄州立大学系统工程系助理教授。2022年4月获得密歇根大学运筹学专业博士学位,2017年7月获得西安交通大学数学与应用数学(试验班)学士学位。研究方向包括多阶段不确定性优化问题及其在供应链和智能交通中的应用。课题组成果已发表于Mathematical Programming, European Journal of Operational Research, Computers and Operations Research, International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML) 等运筹学知名期刊及计算机科学顶级会议。曾获得First place in IISE Pritsker Doctoral Dissertation Award, IOE Katta Murty Prize for the Best Research Paper on Optimization, Michigan Institute for Computational Discovery and Engineering奖学金。个人主页:https://u.osu.edu/xianyu/。


We have a Ph.D. position in Operations Research in the Department of Integrated and Systems Engineering (ISE) at The Ohio State University (OSU), with a start date in Spring 2024 or Autumn 2024. The Ph.D. student will work with Dr. Xian Yu, an Assistant Professor in the ISE department at OSU. We are looking for self-motivated applicants with strong mathematical backgrounds and interests in interdisciplinary research (with a specific focus on the intersection between optimization and reinforcement learning).

Qualifications

•A B.S. degree or M.S. degree in Applied/Pure Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field;•Strong background in mathematics and coding skills;

•Prior research experience is preferred but not required.

The Department of Integrated Systems Engineering (ISE) at OSU offers degrees in industrial and systems engineering (B.S., M.S. and Ph.D.). About PI

Dr. Xian Yu joined the Department of Integrated Systems Engineering at The Ohio State University as an Assistant Professor in August 2022. She completed her Ph.D. in Operations Research at the University of Michigan in 2022 and earned her B.S. in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2017. Her research mainly focuses on sequential decision-making and optimization under uncertainty, with applications in transportation and supply chain management. Her research work has been published in Mathematical Programming, European Journal of Operational Research, Computers and Operations Research, International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML), etc. She is the recipient of First Place in IISE Pritsker Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2023, Katta Murty Prize for the Best Research Paper on Optimization in 2021, and Michigan Institute for Computational Discovery and Engineering Fellowship in 2019.
