一、实验室介绍

美国阿拉巴马大学机械工程系实验室The NeuroRobotics and Control Laboratory(NCL)正在寻找积极进取的学生攻读两个博士学位,RA 或者TA 职位(2023 年秋季或者2024 年春季入学)。实验室由即将入职的助理教授张强博士指导,主要研究领域包括:

1.人体神经肌肉系统建模和控制。

2.先进的基于机器学习的非线性动力系统控制方法开发,例如外骨骼和功能性电刺激。

3.先进的神经机器接口技术(sEMG 和超声信号)及其在假肢、矫形器、计算机和其他辅助设备的神经控制中的应用。

这是一个在跨学科研究领域和跨平台研究实验室工作的绝佳机会。

二、所需资格

1.获得电气/机械/生物医学工程或相关领域的学士/硕士学位

2.机器人设备、线性和非线性控制的机电一体化设计背景

3.在以下一个或多个领域的研究经验:机器人操作和触觉、信号处理和分类以及生物力学分析或相关领域,

4.优秀的口头和书面沟通能力。

三、其他首选资格

1.具有人体相关实验(尤其是临床人群)、人体运动控制与学习、辅助设备设计与控制、嵌入式系统设计、移动应用程序开发、肌肉骨骼建模等方面的经验,

2.编程技能(MATLAB、C/C++、LabVIEW等),

3.同行评审出版物的记录。

张强博士获得武汉大学机械工程学士学位(2014),武汉大学机械电子工程硕士学位(2017),美国宾夕法尼亚州匹兹堡大学机械工程硕士学位(2019),以及美国北卡罗来纳大学教堂山分校(UNC) 和美国北卡州立大学(NCSU)联合培养生物医学工程博士学位(2021)。从2021 年底至今,在UNC/NCSU 生物医学工程联合学院高级康复闭环工程项目进行博士后研究培训。张博士获得了多项奖项,包括2019 年 IEEE/RAS-EMBS 康复机器人国际会议(ICORR) 最佳学生论文奖入围者、2021 年 UNC/NCSU BME 博士研究生优秀成果奖、2022 年 ASME DSCD 新星奖和2023 年北卡罗来纳大学教堂山分校研究生院院长杰出论文奖。

1、About the lab

The NeuroRobotics and Control Laboratory (NCL) is directed by Qiang Zhang, who is an incoming assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alabama . The NCL is seeking highly motivated students for two Ph.D. graduate research/teaching assistant positions (Fall 2023) to conduct research in the fields of:

①Neuromuscular system modeling and control in normal and neurologically disabled individuals.

②Advanced machine learning based control approaches development for nonlinear dynamic systems, such as exoskeletons and functional electrical stimulation.

④A dvanced neural machine interfacing technologies (sEMG and ultrasound and their application to neural control of prosthetics , orthotics , computers , and other assistive devices.This is a great opportunity to work in a highly multidisciplinary research lab .

2、Required Qualifications

①A recent BS/MS degree in Electrical Mechanical Biomedical Engineering or related fields,

②Background in mechatronics design of robotic devices, linear and nonlinear control,

③Research experiences in one or more of the following areas: robotic manipulation and haptics ,  signal processing and classification and biomech anical analysis or related fields ,④Excellent oral and written communication skills .

3、Additional Preferred Qualifications

①Experience in human related experiments (especially clinical population), human motor control and learning , design and control of assistive devices , embedded system design , mobile app development, and musculoskeletal modeling,

②Programming skills (MATLAB , C/C++, LabVIEW , etc)

③Record of peer reviewed publications.

5、About the PI

Dr.Qiang Zhang received the B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering and the M.Sc. degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Wuhan University (WHU), Wuhan, China, in 2014 and 2017, respectively, the M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, USA, in 2019, and the Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), Chapel Hill, NC, USA, and North Carolina State University ( NCSU), Raleigh, NC, USA, in 2021. He was an Advanced

Rehabilitation Research and Training (ARRT) Post Doctoral research fellow in the Closed Loop Engineering for Advanced Rehabilitation at the UNC/NCSU Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Zhang was a recipient of a number of awards, including the finalist for the Best Student Paper Award of the 2019 IEEE/RAS EMBS International Conference on Rehabilitation Robotics (ICORR), the 2021 UNC/NCSU BME Department Ph.D. Student Research Award, 2022 ASME DSCD Rising Star Award, and 2023 Dean’s Distinguished Dissertation Award, UNC Chapel Hill.
