The laboratory of Dr. August Yue Huang in the Division of Genetics and Genomics at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows with a passion for computational biology and genomics. The positions offer a minimal annual salary of $70,000 and are adjustable based on research experience.
The mission of the Huang Lab is to pioneer new computational approaches for studying somatic mutations with various sequencing methods and to leverage these technologies to better understand the roles of somatic mutation in the human genome. Our research directions include 1) Developing new computational tools to identify somatic mutations from various types of bulk and single-cell high-throughput sequencing data (PNAS, 2020, PMID: 32522880; Nucleic Acids Res, 2017, PMID: 28132024; Cell Res, 2014, PMID: 25312340); 2) Understanding the pathogenic contribution and mechanism of somatic mutations in various diseases for better prevention, diagnosis, and treatment (Nature, 2022, PMID: 35444284; PLoS Genet, 2019, PMID: 30973874; Am J Hum Genet, 2017, PMID: 28190454); and 3) Investigating the mechanisms underlying somatic mutation accumulation in various human tissues, as well as their functional impacts on the transcriptome and epigenome of carrier cells (Nat Aging, 2022, PMID: 36051457; Genome Res, 2018, PMID: 29875290; PLoS Genet, 2018, PMID: 29763432). Candidate qualifications include:
- PhD and/or MD in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, or other related fields.
- Experience in high-throughput sequencing data analysis and cluster/cloud computing.
- Expertise in variant calling and machine/deep learning (preferred but not required).
- Strong programming and statistical skills (e.g., Python, Perl, R, Bash).
- Track record of first-author research papers.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
To apply, please send a cover letter describing your research interests along with your CV and contact information of three references to yue.huang@childrens.harvard.edu.
