实验室介绍
本实验室隶属于麦吉尔大学（McGill University)解剖学和细胞生物学系，建有电子显微镜研究中心，配备有先进的结构生物学设施，如搭载相位板、能量滤波器及 K3 直接探测相机的 Titan Krios冷冻电镜等。本实验室主要研究方向包括微生物表面蛋白复合物的生化和结构表征，致力于将冷冻电镜（断层扫描+单颗粒）、生物化学和生物物理方法与微生物遗传学研究相结合。
本实验室PI郭帅奇，师从耶鲁大学冷冻电子断层扫描领域专家刘骏教授，已发表多篇高水平文章并与国际多个著名的实验室和研究小组建立了良好的学术研究关系。

Research Group Introduction
M.Sc./Ph.D. positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Shuaiqi Guo at the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology (https://www.mcgill.ca/anatomy/) at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Our research program focuses on the characterization of microbial surface protein complexes and nanomachines involved in biofilm formation using advanced techniques including cryo-focused-ion-beam milling and cryo-electron tomography. Outcomes of our research have potential for a wide range of applications, including the development of new antimicrobial agents for treating infectious diseases, novel strategies for carbon capture and utilization as well as antifouling agents for various industries.

Position qualifications
M.Sc. candidates should have a B.Sc. degree. Ph.D. candidates should either hold or be expected to soon graduate with a M.Sc. degree in relevant fields such as biology, biophysics, biochemistry, microbiology and chemistry. For Ph.D. candidates, a strong background in molecular biology is essential. Experience with computer programing is desirable but not required.
Research Environment
The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology is also home to the Facility for Electron Microscopy Research (FEMR) at McGill University. FEMR boasts state-of-the-art facilities for structural biology, including a 300-kv Titan Krios equipped with phase plate, energy filter, and K3 detector. Our research program integrates cryo-EM, biochemical and biophysical approaches with microbial genetics fostering an excellent environment for international collaborations with other world-renowned research groups in relevant fields.
