当地时间2022年2月9日,美国国家工程院(NAE,National Academy of Engineering)公布了最新选出的111名院士和 22 名外籍院士名单,这使得美国国家工程院院士达到 2388 名、外籍院士人数达到 310 名。

NAE院士资格的获得是目前最专业、最高水准的工程师评价标准之一,每一届美国国家工程院院士的选举,都是一个为期一年的长期过程。每一年的投票是在 12 月进行的,而院士成员资格的最终投票则在第二年的 1 月进行。评选成为院士的标准,最主要的是:对工程研究、实践或教育做出了突出贡献

此外,其他的评选标准还包括:开拓出新的或正在发展中的技术领域,在传统工程领域取得了重大进展,以及开发或实践了更加创新的工程教育方法。

本届入选外籍院士的中国内地学者有 2 人,分别是:中国科学院院士、北京理工大学副校长、材料与结构力学领域专家方岱宁;微软亚洲研究院创始人之一、北京智源人工智能研究院理事长、凯雷投资集团高级顾问、人工智能和多媒体计算专家张宏江。

111 名增选院士还包括了 SpaceX 公司创始人及 CEO 埃隆·马斯克(Elon Musk)、微软(Microsoft)公司 CEO Satya Nadella、辉瑞(Pfizer)公司副总裁 Paul Mensah 和 Moderna 公司的创始人及总裁 Noubar B. Afeyan。
